Wild Wild Wet

Seldom we get to go out on an adventure like this on a friday. This time we made a virgin trip to Wild Wild Wet at Downtown East!

Breakfast at Mac's as usual (opps!) before heading to Pasir Ris.

We have a great offer for Nebo Card members so its $10.50/ pax! The usual price would have been $14 for Nebo members and $19 for an adult. So its just a great way to start the day!

We were early there and hence it was not too crowded. The shiok river was quite a good station to chill, like lying down on the floats and moving with the mild waves.

We happen to come acorss this. Sunburn lotion station for $1/spray. Cool idea yeah

We tried the slide at "The Water Works" (purple concealed slide) and it turned out to be more than expected. It was totally pitched dark for almost the entire length. Next we tried the "Ular-lah" (giant float for 6ppl) and it was not bad, but the one at legoland was better (: Next up was the "Torpedo". It is first of its kind in Singapore, and it ejects was from an 18-metre high capsule into a heart-stopping free fall. THIS IS TOTALLY NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED. Its feels like you are commiting suicide/getting flushed from the toilet bowl (quoted from dearie), and he gave me the nerves when he was "flushed" down the capsule, but I don't really like the concealed feeling before the countdown. The water will be gushing into yr face as you rush down helplessly.

Next we went back to the shiok river to chill for a few rounds before heading to the "Slide-up"

The "Slide-up" is a four-storey drop-down ramp, accelerating profusely (to me it feels like a free-fall as well). This is no joke too!

Overall it was quite an adventure as it was our first time there since their opening 10 years ago. And yes it was that long. Initially, I did not think much of this place as an option to go. But after visiting the water park at Legoland, it struck my mind that we should make a trip to Wild Wild Wet to try it out too, since its cheaper and its right here at the East of Singapore. The water themepark at legoland is much bigger. But today was definitely a different experience. 

We baked there for 3hrs before heading for food!

And guess what, we ate at our 老地方 but at a different 地方. Tada! Justacia is always awesome.

City Square MallForCre

We are out of the country again, this time with the other couple <3!

We took 950 from Woodlands mrt to get to the Woodlands checkpoint, then taking the same bus number to get to the Malaysia Checkpoint, and within another 5 minutes walk, WOOTS we have reached the famous City Square Mall of JB.

Small bicker when alighting from Singapore checkpoint as the boy thought I was required to tap out when I did not do so because I was on concession = unlimited bus rides!!!!!! @koklouis

Our first stop is Lunch at Arashi! (We researched on the food the day before and wanted to try this out!) It was definitely affordable, per pax is only about SGD10

Next we are off to shop shop and shop! My deardear caught an eye on a squash racket and it was very worth a buy! SGD50 for a lightweight HEAD racket. This calls for more squash sessions to keep fit and lose weight together (:

The other couple went to shop at Wastons and bought some goods!

We went into several clothes/bags/accessories/popular shops but nothing caught our eye so we to have tea break at humble beginnings!

There after we went to shop for some local goods and we purchase quite a far bit (buying back for Singapore relatives as well)

That calls for a photoshoot after tea break. There is an open space beside Humble Beginnings so we took many shots there!

When around the mall till 5pm and we headed to Restoran Todak for dinner in a cab! It was around 20 minutes ride to a quite ulu part of malaysia nearby. But reading the reviews yesterday, the food were gna be so satisfactory. And true enough, it was yummilicious (: Some #nofilter pictures below. Thankyou deardear for helping me to pluck the crab. Feels like a princess♥

The food was really good and the scenery was nice too! Hopped into a cab back to city square mall after dinner and walked around once again!

Before we left, we went to purchase the famous swiss roll cake as well. 

Surprizingly we get to sit down on all our bus rides!

To sum up, it was indeed an eye opener for us as I have not been there (and dearie have not been there for 10 years). We came back to SG in one piece and we are grateful for that. A totally different experience compared to the one at Legoland (where we have to allocate and manage time properly)

Legoland

Finally this day had arrived, the day we have been waiting for so long, the day we were finally going to flee the country! (Used too many times during the bus trip)

A day's trip to Legoland at Malaysia.

How awesome can that be. I'm so happy that everything went as planned, even though it was pouring heavily in the wee hours of the morning in Singapore, which was further confirmed for bad weather by the weather forecast.

In the end, we were early birds at the Singapore flyer and we set off at 8.45am and reach there at approximately 11.30am (due to massive Singapore customs jams), and the skies cleared soon after.

We took a tour around the miniland and snaps lots of pictures. I think this is a very good concept as we get to see numerous prominent buildings all around the world at once and the friendly crews were always offering to help us to take pictures, like the one with the love hearts below. I think the service of people here is very good comparing to our own.

Singapore landmarks (Mer Mer)

We tried the most heart-pumping roller coaster as our first ride here (lego technic)! followed by the two dragon roller coasters at the lego kingdom! The dragon ride was not as FAST as we expected though, so the first ride is still considered to be the 最有kick的了.

Next we went on a ride that comprises of laser shooting, which was fun because we never sat on this kind of ride before and we went twice consequently.

We tried out pastas for lunch! And it was reasonably good (but there after we found out that there were cheaper and nicer food outside of legoland). There were 3 musical performers around too and there was a young foreigner who stood up and sang a song, which won the applause of the whole cafe (including us)

Soon after lunch, we took a ride on the lego highest tower, which we have in view of the whole vicinity (which the dearie took a full 3 mins video on). Thereafter we head straight to get changed and get into the water park!

The slides were simply awesome. It was the first time that I have taken slides in total darkness and sharp bends. The slides with the floats and mats were a new experience and we totally love it♥

I wanted to get ice cream coz its cheap and huge and we went back to hunt for it so there it is! Double Scoop OKAY! The chocolate's AWESOME.

And we also tried the bubble tea outside of legoland, which is cheap and take like teh bing but oh wells its only 80cents sing so mai hiam tio ho lah (:

Overall we managed to cover almost all the rides and slides and it was a memorable and successful trip♥

Hehe I shall mention yr message here:

• A deeper understanding of each other going overseas for a holiday was such a great success.

• We managed well with time. And manage to play most of the key rides for both land and water park. It's so amazing!

• Look forward to our next overseas trip

It really feels as though we are on a honeymoon. This is the first trip that I fleed out of Singapore with a non-sch non-family relate agenda, but with a love-related agenda! We have successfully crossed my parent's barrier (no overseas trip). This shows that they really trust you damn a lot. Win liao lor dearie!!

So angst now coz she's been screaming at my bedside for the past 1 hr. She suddenly got angry because I left my clothes around the room. And from there she began her forever-and-ever-on-repeat life talkshow.

Sometimes I do think that I am really that a big burden to her. She always think that I am super lousy and a disappointment. She started screaming about me going overseas (Okay not as if I really went but those plans about going overseas but failed in the end). Now she is forcing me to a corner and told me to go and book a tour to bring them and grandma (at my own expense since I keep talking about going overseas). Whenever I started talking about tours with friends, she is always against the idea. She said if im so free I should spend more time on my studies or plan a trip for them to go together. For some reasons (which I think I told u before lah), they wont go overseas on their own and leave me behind. Neither would they leave my grandma behind. So they going oversead by themselves it totally a no-no affair and needn't be discussed further. And she said if im so "rich" (to be able to keep asking to go trips with friends), I should save up to pay my school fees in full or just save up to get my own place next time. She always tell me that if I wanna play, I should be studying instead. If I wanna play, I should enjoy with my hubby next time. Whenever I told her that NOW is the prime moment to enjoy life once a while (in terms of having nt much responsibilities at the moment that would lead to nt able to travel), but she won't buy it. Still, she say next time I would have a lot of time to travel with my hubby if I want to. I seriously think she doesnt trust my friends. From the examples that she doesnt trust me to travel with yi wen to bangkok or travel with boyu to jb for a few hours. She also threatened me not to bring it up again as it would bring unhappiness to both of them. She also say that next time when im working full time den I will have more say in things, by then maybe she will lemme go. but I told her it's only 1 year from now does it gonna make a difference? She said yes, when I earn my own keeping and get out of the house, yes, its gna make a difference. When I reach that stage she claimed she wont bother about where Im flying (but I doubt it totally). And she added that it would be 8-10 years (OK WTF OK)

And then she started talking about grandma (which made me totally teary and low morale) . She said that she wants to go overseas too but there's no one to bring her, and its only that our family is ABLE to bring her overseas. All my uncles cant do it (for the various numerous legit or unlegit reasons). Actually my parents said this before that they arent that adventurous and hence travelling isnt their top priority. But by throwing this whole travelling plan to me is like throwing me into the grave. I have never planned any tour AND HOW U EXPECT ME TO DO THAT WTF. You dont even lemme explore even JB, and how u expect me to plan something further. And she jus said go to the tour agency and look through their tour packages and jus throw money there and we can go already so simple. She said that we shall go during may-july period. But she totally knows im gna work my ass out (as usual) and by telling me to plan a trip at that period (Are you trying to push me to a corner again). And this has been going on for the pass 1 hr and I totally cannot take it anymore. And this is only the first part (lemme save this first).

And she went on about the marriage topic (somehow it jus linked). And about staying with in-laws topics. And many many more related stuff. And suddenly talking about flats. and talking about whats the soonest I could reach that stage. (she counted 5 years and she said that if I could get out in 5 years it should be a happy occasion). Den she mentioned about u, asking me whether 这个男人你会嫁吗? Then I said 会. Den she carry on saying about the houseworks, regarding who's gna do. At our own place, we need not worry so much on these aspect but once we are on our own we have to.

I just needed a listening ear but u r sleeping already and didnt wanna affect yr emotions for tml so I jus write it here u may see it next time. Till next time. Saranghae♡

Under a hypothetical situation, the Chinese government should decide to allocate its entire fund to protect the shark by reducing the consumption of shark's fin soup because conserving sharks are more impactful than conserving the pandas.  

                               
Firstly, the reduced consumption of shark's fin soup would reduce the number of sharks killed. Sharks are positioned at the top of the marine food chain as they are carnivores and they consume large varieties of fishes. Larger sharks may go to the extent of consuming dolphins and sea lions¹. With more sharks in the sea, it better balances the food chain as they tend to feed on weak, old and unhealthy marine creatures, hence reducing the spread of diseases among the marine population². This way, we could maintain the population of healthy marine life for fisheries to catch and in return for us to consume. Panda have a smaller and a less significant impact on the food chain as they are primary consumers. They are nowhere close to the top of the food chain.

Secondly, the shark’s fin is often obtained by cruel approach. It involves slicing off of the shark’s fins while the shark is still alive and dumping the rest of its body back into the ocean as it does not have a great deal of monetary value. They will die within days as they could not fight for survival³. Without fins, the sharks would not be able to swim and they would fall prey to other sea creatures. This is animal cruelty as the sharks have to go through so much suffering just for a bowl of soup⁴. To illustrate with an example, chickens are killed first before they are processed to be consumed. However in the case of sharks, they were not killed first before finning. This is another crucial reason why we should reduce the consumption of shark’s fin soup.

Certainly, there are reasons to why we should save the panda instead. The panda, being big, loveable and cute as compared to sharks, are a larger attraction that is relatively easier and cheaper to maintain. The panda can also generate or help to develop a tertiary industry of eco-tourism as they are an important cultural icon for Chinese people⁵. They can also be viewed at ease and are more accessible by the general public as compared to sharks.

In conclusion, the impact of sharks surviving is more important than the panda. Even though the panda serves as a very important tourist attraction, even for the case of Singapore e.g. Kai Kai and Jia Jia at the River Safari⁶, they play a small part in the food web and we have to look at the bigger picture for environment sustainability in the case of the marine life ecosystem. We do not consume pandas, but we do consume seafood to a large extent in all parts of the world. Therefore we would still need the marine life to carry on survival and hence provides us with long term seafood commodity.

We ran our second 2XU HM on 2nd March 2014, and we finished the race injury-free (not mentioning the cramps). It was truly a different experience and atmosphere. In a blink of an eye, it would be sundown soon!

Overslept and gave up going to sch:/ Reprimanded by mummy but we were okay in a while so it was fine. Went to work thereafter. The sun was too hot and I think it FRIED MY BRAINS so deep inside my head is giving me nerves. This is insane. It was only around 3 minutes of extreme and direct sunlight.

Heard the new menu is launching soon. Hope we do have new staff meals! (Because I'm really sick of the food already) And the $3 outside pasta was damn awesome. This have to be life's simple pleasures.

You may be wondering why I started to blog. The reason is that I just feel like keeping some memories for us to look back on next time. Perhaps one day I may show it to you (maybe on 23^rd July?) Let’s just see how things go and how this blog progress. But for now this will be keep hidden!

I ran today, like finally, after a long while. It felt great, I felt alive once again. This shows that running is one of the best ways to revive oneself. This year has been too busy, with stuffs like school, driving lessons, work. Thank goodness I have a day off on Thursday. And I would still squeeze time out to spend with you because I want to. But sometimes I felt that things keep on crashing on me but sometimes i felt that it was still okay because I have your support. Thank you for being here with me all these while, tolerating all my nonsense, and pampering me like a princess. I could not ask for more, than having you by my side. Sometimes I feel like doing a little more but I’m just too tired to do anything. Thank you for your understanding all along too.

This coming Sunday would be our second 2XU half marathon. Sometimes I feel that our relationship is special because we get to do certain things together, like running, for example. And we take things slow, and that’s a good step forward. I realized that if a relationship progress too quickly, it may just die off earlier. So slow and steady wins the race right? Hope we do win the race. Though it may still be a long wait till the day, but I’m glad that I know you at this point of life, at the least we could start to foresee the future which seem someway closer.

Jumpy Star

And he brought me earl grey milk tea and cheese pancake because I was frantically studying for CM3031. He brought a wrong straw and we ended up having to walk all the way back there and it was funny. Although I could just make my way downstairs for a little snack but this boy came all the way from his place♡

I always treasure these little moments. 

Nine Point Five

A CRAZY week before recess week. A week packed with lessons, tests, work, family matters and ending with a half marathon. Tough semester this round. 2 plus more months to go.
